Why create the ARC?
My name is Darcie Anderson Mueller and I created this valid, reliable, fast and free Academic Reality Check (ARC) to help new college freshmen understand their own academic expectations going into college.
This tool is designed primarily for student use and reflection, although instructors could use this tool in freshmen seminar courses or academic advising appointments. This tool will give students an ARC score in each of the five categories, allowing them to reflect on academic strengths and challenges as they begin college. The tool can be completed in a few minutes from any device with internet access. |
Who takes the ARC?
The Academic Reality Check (ARC) results are only available to the student completing the tool! However, students could complete the ARC in a classroom setting, guided by an instructor or academic advisor. The ARC has been designed to help students reflect on personal academic expectations quickly, so they can identify success resources and strategies at the beginning of their college career.
